Holistic Swedish Massage
Holistic Swedish Massage therapy promotes relaxation and can help ease aches and pains. It helps trigger the release of the body's natural painkillers and gives a general sense of contentment. Swedish massage not only feels exceptionally good, but is relaxing and invigorating.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, ligaments and tendons, typically used before, during and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. However, you do not need to be a sports performer to receive massage. The benefits can also help relieve many a day to day ailment.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is similar in many ways to a normal massage, the main difference being that massage techniques used in pregnancy are adapted to maintain the wellbeing of mother and child. Techniques vary from firmer massages to relieve discomfort, or softer massages to help relax the expectant mother.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is an ancient therapeutic treatment that has been practiced in India for thousands of years. Part of the Hindu health care practice of Ayurveda, Indian head massage focuses on your head, neck and shoulders and was originally used to improve scalp and hair condition. It is a deep massage, using a variety of pressure and techniques, including circular massage strokes on your scalp, deep tissue work on your shoulders, and stretching the neck.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is the massage and manipulation of the soft tissue of the body such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. Various massage movements are used to promote circulation, increase blood supply and break down fibrous areas which may have formed in muscle, thereby alleviating pain and discomfort and promoting the body's ability to heal.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy that involves the use of smooth, heated stones. The massage therapist places the hot stones on specific points on your body and may also hold the stones while giving the massage. The localized heat and weight of the stones warm and relax muscles, allowing the massage therapist to apply deeper pressure to those areas without causing discomfort.
Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology taping is the application of a thin, stretchy, cotton-based therapeutic tape that can benefit a wide variety of injuries and inflammatory conditions. It is almost identical to human skin in both thickness and elasticity, which allows it to be worn without binding, constricting or restriction of movement.
Seated Acupressure Massage
Seated acupressure is a relaxing and revitalising treatment, based on traditional Japanese acupressure where the therapist uses his or her hands to stimulate the energy points which can be found all along the meridians of the head, neck, shoulders, spine and lower back. Remaining fully clothed the recipient is comfortably seated in a specifically designed chair. This versatile massage sequence can provide a simple yet effective method of reducing stress and stress-related problems.
Contraindications
There are reasons why massage is inadvisable and your GP may need to approve your treatment beforehand.
